Washington D.C. is the 49th contiguous American state or territory on this continent, and is also the capitol city of these United States. As such, the city itself is a virtual museum-classroom devoted to our nation’s historical roots. Even though many continue the effort to revise history, it is difficult to deny our traditional roots when quotations and images of our heritage are engraved in granite.
But D.C. isn’t the only reason to vacation and explore the Maryland and Virginia region. This area is a target rich environment for outdoors recreation and cultural history.
