the kennels provided at the park are actually just pet cages in a large airconditioned room. They will not walk your pet and sometimes the provided or available kennel cage may not provide a comfortable atmosphere for your pet. Our 120 lb lab was left in a 4x4 cage, there were larger ones available but they would not place her in one. We only spent about 1.5 hours in the caverns due to the concern for our pet. We were not comfortable with the conditios. I wish there was more information on the kennels available so that more travelers could make a better informed decision. We would have left our pet at home with family had we known the real story of the kennel service available at Carlsbad Caverns.
